This is an immersive listening course. The magic of Ronnie’s music, mythology, life and lyrics is best transmitted by going directly to his songs and albums. University-type survey courses require a lot of dilution and distraction due to not limiting the scope of the course. This course takes the inverse approach: spend most of your time listening to the Core Tracks each week. We are interested in Depth more than breadth. Make notes to yourself about your listening experience in your Dio Journal (notebook, TrapperKeeper, etc.)
That being said, we do need to cover a bit of context, personal biography and related bands and projects in order to understand how and why Ronnie is making these songs: but only a bit. This amazing fruit does require specific soil and conditions to arise, but our task here is to voraciously feed on the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of the Lord of Roar.
